Day-Kel Jerseys

- Owned by David and Kelly Oberreich
- Plymouth Wis.
- of Registered Jerseys: 160 heifers and cows
The farm is 100% pure Registered Jerseys, and the Oberreich family prides themselves on this. They have had the opportunity to show off their homebred animals at county, state, and even national levels.
Breeding is very important to the farm, which is why their short-term goal is to keep their breeding program consistent and develop their cow families. Like other farms, the structure of their cows is important to their breeding decisions. Day-Kel Jersey looks at the cow’s feet, legs, udders and high type. They also only use the best of the best for their sire lines too. They use sires that have come from families that have won national shows.
The farm’s favorite story also comes from the show ring. They have a few Jerseys who have been nominated for All Americans, most recently Day-Kel Gentry Monique was nominated for All American Summer Yearling in 2022. A few years prior in 2019, Day-Kel Impression Jovie- ET was nominated Junior All American Senior 2-year-old. Day-Kel Applejack Sunset was also nominated for Junior All American Spring Yearling in 2016.
To ensure the success of their cattle outside of the shows, Day- Kel Jersey uses the AJCA REAP Program. Once every aspect of their product has been processed, it is sent to Sargento/ Baker Cheese and shipped for the public’s enjoyment. The farm also has pride when it comes to the work that the owners put in. David and Kelly are doing the bulk of the work now that their children have moved off the farm.
