Genomic Lots Command Top Prices at National Heifer Sale
The 69th edition of the National Heifer Sale was held June 19, 2026, in conjunction with the annual meetings of the national Jersey organizations in Springfield, Mo. In all, 39 lots sold for an average of $5,992.31 and a gross of $233,700. Ten percent of the gross—$23,370— will be deposited in the National Jersey Youth Development Fund.

Select Sires and Jerseyland of Plain City, Ohio, partnered to purchase both the high-selling and second high-selling lots—rights to control the next in vitro fertilization (IVF) sessions of a pair of high genomic females.
The genetics companies placed the last bid of $21,000 to purchase IVF rights to JX Cal-Mart Quiz 3774 {5}-ET. They are guaranteed a minimum of eight #1 or #2 embryos. The lot was consigned by Martin Dairy LLC, Tillamook, Ore.
On sale day, “Quiz 3774 {5}” was the high-ranking daughter of her sire, JX ABS GA Quiz-ET, GJPI +167, for genetic merit. Today she ranks #55 among all females for Genomic Jersey Performance Index (GJPI) with an index of +192. She has Genomic Predicted Transmitting Abilities (GPTAs) of +1,221M, +67F and +47P and is plus for both fat and protein tests.
“Quiz 3774 {5}” freshened with a bull calf in late February and was appraised Desirable-77% at 1-9. She has 11 registered progeny with the Cal-Mart prefix to date, several ranking for genetic merit. Three daughters sired by JX ABS CF 8081 Clement {5}-ET, GJPI +205, rank among the breed’s top 10 females, including Cal-Mart Clement 4418 {6}-ET, ranked #1 with an index of +233.
“Quiz 3774 {5}” is out of the impactful “J” cow family at Martin Dairy. Her dam is a maternal sister to several bulls in A.I., including Cal-Mart Jammer-ET, Cal-Mart Joystick-ET and Cal-Mart Outlier {5}-ET, GJPI +172. Their dam, Cal-Mart Westport Jenica 955 {6}-ET, sired by JX Cal-Mart Westport {5}-ET, GJPI +104, has an m.e. average of 20,449—1,114—816 on three lactations. The next seven dams are Very Good or Excellent, all with actual records over 20,000 lbs. milk and up to 27,700 lbs. milk.

Select Sires and Jerseyland purchased the second high-selling lot, an IVF session with JX Metcalf Outlier 2706 {5}, for $16,750. She is a March 2025 “Outlier {5}” daughter with a GJPI of +188, which ranks #106 among all females. She has GPTAs of +573M, +36F (+0.04%) and +35F (+0.07%).
Her dam is an Excellent-90% daughter of JX Faria Brothers Fournette {3}-ET, GJPI +140, with five lactations and a top record of 4-11 305 3x 25,990 4.6% 1,207 3.7% 950 94DCR. Metcalf Double Dare-ET, GJPI +81, a son of her maternal sister, was syndicated in the 2022 All American Jersey Sale for $34,000. The dam of “Fournette {3}” is a Very Good-87% daughter of JX Schultz Volcano Harris {4}, GJPI +33, with a five lactation m.e. average of 22,638—1,123—877. The next dam is also appraised 87 points and has 17,210 lbs. milk, 985 lbs. fat and 661 lbs. protein at 7-0.
The IVF session with “Outlier 2706 {5}” was consigned by Corey Metcalf, Milton, Wis.

The third high-selling lot was a choice of a pair of full sisters sired by Dupat Blizzard Odesza-ET, GJPI +158, and out of JX Dupat Thrasher 23609 {5}-ET. Sexing Technologies, South Charleston, Ohio, was the high bidder at $14,000. They chose JX Dupat Odesza 31353 {6}-ET.
Born on New Year’s Day this year, she has GPTAs of +1,220M, +36F and +36P. She is plus for Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR), Cow Conception Rate (CCR) and Heifer Conception Rate (HCR) and has a GJPI of +184, which ranks #150 for genetic merit.
“Odesza 31353 {6}” hails from the “Circus” cow family. Her dam, “Thrasher 23609 {5}”, is a Very Good-82% daughter of JX CDF Pilgrim Thrasher {6}-ET, GJPI +156, with three records—all over 20,000 lbs. milk—and a best record of 3-11 305 3X 24,550 4.7% 1,158 3.8% 926 104DCR. She ranks #37 among cows with a GJPI of +167 and has numerous Very Good or Excellent maternal sisters also ranked for genetic merit. Included in this group are JX Dupat Chief 23859 {5}-ET, Excellent-93%, with more than 25,000 lbs. milk, and JX Dupat Chief 23899 {5}-ET, Very Good-85%, with more than 32,000 lbs. milk.
The grandam of “Odesza 31353 {6}” is JX Primus Dancer Carnival 687 {4}-ET, Very Good-86%, with an m.e. average of 21,655—1,077—813 on five records. She has several Excellent and Very Good maternal sisters with records over 20,000 lbs. milk as well. Their dam, River Valley Lemonhead Carnival-ET, is the breed’s former high-selling heifer calf, struck off for $67,000 in Rendezvous at River Valley in 2016. Her full brother, River Valley Circus Craze, a former historical high-selling bull, was syndicated in the same sale for $165,000.
The next four dams are Very Good or Excellent. The eighth dam of “Odesza 31353 {6}” is Pleasant Nook F Prize Circus, Excellent-97%, two-time National Grand Champion. She has four records over 21,000 lbs. milk, 1,000 lbs. fat and 760 lbs. protein.
“Odesza 31353 {6}” was consigned by Wickstrom Jersey Farms Inc., Hilmar, Calif.

Sexing Technologies also purchased the fourth high seller—another consignment from Martin Dairy—for $13,000. Joining “Odesza 31353 {6}” at the farm in Ohio is JX Cal-Mart Wyndham 4352 {6}, a February 2026 daughter of JX Victory Chatham Wyndham {5}-ET, GJPI +191. She is from the same cow family as the high-selling lot, as her third dam is a maternal sister to “Quiz 3774 {5}.”
“Wyndham 4352 {6}” has GPTAs of +700M, +42F (+0.04%) and +32P (+0.03%). She is +1.6 for DPR, +2.3 for CCR and +1.9 for HCR and has a GJPI of +189, which ranks among the breed’s top 100. Several maternal sisters also rank for genetic merit. Their dam is a Very Good-80% daughter of JX Cal-Mart Fleek {6}-ET, GJPI +126, with a GJPI of +161. The next dam is an 80-point daughter of TOG Arthur-ET, GJPI +146, with a two-lactation m.e. average of 23,231—1,289—924.

Jerseyland Sires was the sole purchaser of the fifth high seller, Avi-Lanche Farva Ruth 2522, who was struck off for $12,250. The August 2025 daughter of JX Peak Altafarva {6}-ET, GJPI +175, has GPTAs of +376M, +38F (+0.10%) and +25P (+0.06%) and is +2.0 for DPR, +3.5 for CCR and +1.8 for HCR. She has a GJPI of +184, which ranks among the top 200 for genetic merit.
Her dam, JX Avi-Lanche Geppetto Ruth 36702 {6}, Very Good-87%, ranks among the top 1% of cows for GJPI with an index of +149. She has an m.e. average of 25,633—1,283—953 on two records. Her Very Good-85% grandam has a four-lactation m.e. average of 20,545—987—767. The next four dams all have m.e. averages over 20,000 lbs. milk and up to 25,200 lbs. milk.
“Ruth 2522” was consigned by Richard and Jennifer M. Avila, Dalhart, Texas.

The sixth high seller, JX Pine-Tree1226 Larr 1501 {6}-ET, was purchased by Sexing Technologies for $11,600. With Pine-Tree breeding on both the top and bottom sides of her pedigree, the March 2026 heifer calf is sired by Pine-Tree Unclelarry-ET, GJPI +163, and out of JX Pine-Tree 13947 Cha 1226 {5}-ET.
“Larr 1501 {6}” ranks among the breed’s top 200 for GJPI with an index of +183. She has GPTAs of +417M, +60F (+0.2%) and +31P (+0.08%). She is plus for DPR, CCR and HCR and is +555 for Cheese Merit Dollars.
“Cha1226 {5}” ranks #95 with a GJPI of +189. She is a Desirable-78% daughter of JX Primus Enzo Chatham {4}-ET, GJPI +167, that freshened with her first calf in late January 2026. She has two maternal brothers in A.I., and several other maternal sisters ranked for genetic merit. Their dam, JX MM Thrasher Manhattan 13947 {5}-ET, Excellent-92%, ranks among the top 300 cows for GJPI with an index of +151. She has a three-lactation m.e. average of 25,093—1,258—930. The next three dams have m.e. averages over 19,000 lbs. milk.
“Larr 1501 {6}” was consigned by Matthew Steiner of Pine-Tree Dairy, Marshallville, Ohio.
In all, 21 buyers from 11 states made purchases. Sexing Technologies was the volume buyer, with eight purchases totaling $53,050.
