Wildweed Holsteins and Jerseys use several AJCA Programs including REAP and appraisal to manage their herd. They also participate in the All American Jersey Show. Their milk is shipped to DFA.

To ensure their herd is breeded for the best, Wildweed focuses on specific health traits. Their sires have high JUI, correct set to the leg, and have good strength. Their favorite sires of all time include Hawarden Impuls Premier, River Valley Cece Chrome, Elliotts Regency Casino, Chili Action Colton, and Heartland Irwin Texas. The herd continues to have success today due to traits coming from ISAU Lightning Ridge Ferdinand, Avonlea Chips Canadian Club, Mr Kathies Kid Rock, River Valley Victorious and Guimo Joel

Bloodlines are also important to breeding. They have worked with maternal lines including “Veronica”, “Comet” and “Hired Gun Dixie”, “Renaissance Sophie”, Just-A-Few Renaissance Eliza-ET, Excellent-93%, Pleasant Nook Rene Myriah, Exellent-95% and Arethusa Deluxe Lyric, Exellent-92%.

When asked about a dairy success story that stands out to them, it focused on a current star in their herd, Dashs Delusion. After weaning, they partnered with Matthew and Elizabeth Gunst where she competed at a level Wildweed could not imagine possible. She was ABA Reserve Junior All American Winter Calf in 2021, Junior All American Winter Calf 2021, Nominated ABA All American Winter Yearling, and Reserve ABA Junior All American Winter Yearling 2022. Dashs Delusion is a part of Dixies Showdown Dash’s bloodline.

The only thing greater than her success in the show ring is the connections and friendships she has created for the Behling family. Wildweed has big plans for the near future to increase their marketing to show off animals such as the ones highlighted in this article.
