Auction Raises More than $11,000 for AJCC Research Foundation
The endowment of the AJCC Research Foundation added $11,115 from proceeds of its annual benefit auction held June 27 as part of the 2019 Annual Meetings of the American Jersey Cattle Association and National All-Jersey Inc. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Duane and Roslyn Norman, Fulton, Md., donated the top-seller – an original 36 x 24 inch acrylic on canvas (pictured on far right above) by artist Thais Cassel. Susie Green, Elsie, Mich., took home the piece for a final bid of $1,050, outbidding Cari Wolfe, AJCA Director of Research and Genetic Program Development. “The Nursery” is a portrait featuring two endearing Jersey calves lying on a grassy bed.
The second high seller was the first choice of a new custom-made farm sign featuring “The Jersey” portrait (pictured above) by Bonnie Mohr, commissioned by the American Jersey Cattle Association (AJCA) in 2018. The weather-resistant metal sign will be customized with the farm name by TransWorld Services in Hillard, Ohio. The first choice was purchased by National All-Jersey Inc. (NAJ) president, John Kokoski, Hadley, Mass., with a final bid of $900. The contending bidder, NAJ Director John Marcoot, Greenville, Ill., purchased the second choice sign for $275. The two farms both own All-Jersey product plants and will use the signs to aid in their on-farm promotions.
