Judges Named for 2022 All American Jersey Shows
The judges have been selected for The 70th All American Jersey Shows, sponsored by the American Jersey Cattle Association of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
The largest exhibition of Registered Jersey™ cattle in the world, the three shows of The All American, will be held November 4, 6, 7, 2022, in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) in Louisville, Ky.
Andrew VanderMeulen, Brighton, Ont., will judge The All American Jersey Show on Sunday and Monday, November 6-7. This will be his second time to officiate the open show, following his debut as judge in 2015. He has judged at several national exhibitions including, the Royal Winter Fair in Canada, the National Jersey Show in Paraná, Brazil, the Mexican National Show, World Dairy Expo and the Royal Easter Show in Australia, in addition to many U.S. and Canadian shows. VanderMeulen is one of the co-owners of Avonlea Genetics Inc., a third-generation purebred Jersey dairy and sales and marketing business.
Selected to place the oldest and richest class for dairy cattle in the world is Michael Duckett, Rudolph, Wis. He will place the 69th National Jersey Jug Futurity on November 6. This will be his first time to judge the class, but in 2005 he and his wife, Julie, exhibited the winner, Burlin Stars N Stripes. In 2021, he judged the New York Spring Holstein Show and the Wisconsin Red & White and Jersey Spring shows. In addition, he has officiated at many state and regional shows including the California Jersey Show, California Holstein Show and the Wisconsin District 6 Holstein Show.
There are 308 three-year-olds currently eligible for the 2022 National Jersey Jug Futurity. Last year, the show offered a grand total of $8,665 in premiums, with the winner receiving a check for $2,284.
Judge for The All American Junior Jersey Show on Friday, November 4 will be Brandon Ferry, Hilbert, Wis. Brandon served as a consultant for the National Jersey Jug Futurity in 2015. In 2021, Brandon judged the International Junior Holstein Show, the Southwest High Protein Brown Swiss, Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn shows. He has also judged the Colombian National Jersey Show in Colombia, the Wisconsin State Jersey Show, Kentucky State Fair, Iowa State Fair Junior Holstein Show, Midwest Jersey Jamboree Open and Junior Shows, and the Midwest Red and White Spring Show.
The first and second place winners in each class of these shows will become the 2022 All American and Reserve All American honorees of the American Jersey Cattle Association.
New Schedule for 2022 All American Jersey Show
The Jersey breed will have a different look to the 2022 events. The Jersey weekend will begin on Friday November 4, 2022, with the All American Junior Jersey Show. The show will begin with junior showmanship at 7:30 a.m. The Jersey heifers will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the cow show starting at approximately 1:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the show, the Supreme Champions of the NAILE Junior Dairy Shows will be selected.
At 7:00 p.m. on Friday the Pot O’Gold Sale will be held in the West Wing. The sale is presented by Land O’Lakes Animal Solutions and managed by Jersey Marketing Service. The sale is open to youth between the ages of seven and 20 years old.
On Saturday, November 5, the Jersey Youth Awards Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. It will be followed by the All American pre-sale social at 2:00 p.m. The All American Jersey Sale will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the West Wing.
The All American Jersey Show will be split over Sunday and Monday in 2022. The heifers will show at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 6. The National Jersey Jug Futurity will follow the show at 1:30 p.m.
On Monday morning, the Jersey cows will take to the green shavings at 7:30 a.m. At the conclusion of the cow show, Supreme Champion of the NAILE Dairy shows will be crowned.
