Radiant Daughter Top of the World Sale High Seller
Jersey enthusiasts from across the United States gathered October 2, 2019, for the annual Top of the World Sale held during World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis. The sale pavilion provided a warm environment for attendees to gather during the rainy and cool weather. Morale was high throughout as the sound of Jersey breeders mingling rang throughout the building as they caught up with one another, discussed which new genetics to add to their herd and purely enjoyed each other’s company.
Managed by Jersey Marketing Service, the 2019 edition of the sale averaged $2,842.76 on 38 lots. The sale boasted deep-pedigreed individuals who came from a variety of show, genomic and production backgrounds. With more lots and a positive outlook on the future of the dairy industry, the sale averaged nearly $800 more than the 2018 sale.
High Selling Lots
A daughter of Sunset Canyon Andreas, GJPI -78, out of South Mountain Voltage Radiant-ET, Excellent-91%, demanded the night’s high price of $12,250. The winning bid for the September 2018 heifer, South Mountain Andreas Radical-ET, was placed by Will Iager of Jefferson, Md., to partner with consignors Ernest W. Kueffner and Terri Packard, Boonsboro, Md.
“Radiant” has an extensive show ring resume. In 2018, she was Reserve Intermediate Champion of the All American Jersey Show, won the National Jersey Jug Futurity and earned laurels as Intermediate and Reserve Grand Champion of the International Jersey Show.
The gavel dropped at $10,000 for the second high seller, Scenic View Craze Chesnut 306-P-ET. Sexing Technologies of Navasota, Texas, purchased the consignment of Leroy and Martha Sue Miller, Mayslick, Ky. The January 2019 daughter of River Valley Circus Craze-ET, GJPI +157, has a personal GJPI of +166. 
Matthew Steiner’s consignment, Pine-Tree Viceroy Della 1922 {6}-ET, GJPI +177, brought $4,450 to claim the third high selling spot of the night. Mapleview Dairy, LLC of Madrid, N.Y. are the new owners of this November 2018 calf. A daughter of CDF Viceroy-ET, GJPI +185, “Della 1922” ranks on the Top JPI Heifer List, as do two of her full sisters.

A total of 31 buyers from 14 states purchased the 38 lots. Thirteen of them stayed in Wisconsin. A more detailed analysis of the 2019 Top of the World Sale will be available in the upcoming issue of the Jersey Journal.
