Juniors Find Foundation Animals at 2019 Pot O’Gold
Thirty-five lots graced the ring during the 62nd Pot O’Gold Sale during the 2019 All American Jersey Show events on November 9, 2019. This allows 35 youth the opportunity to compete in the 2022 Pot O’Gold Production Contest and provides solid foundations for these youth to start Jersey herds of their own. The sale was managed by Jersey Marketing Service and Lynn Lee served as auctioneer for the event.
With an overall average of $2,190, the high selling animal of the day commanded a price of $4,300. Consigned by Ahlem Brothers, Hilmar, Calif., JX Ahlem Brothers Stormcloud 41090 {5} was purchased by Henry Dizek, Hadley, Mass. “Stormcloud 41090” has a GJPI of +174 and is a July 2018 daughter JX Ahlem Boudreaux Stormcloud {4}-ET, GJPI +175. Her dam is a Very Good-83% Viceroy who on her first lactation had 20,000 lbs. of milk, 958 lbs. of fat and 697 lbs. of protein.
Robert Graves, Dundas, Ill. purchased the second-high selling lot of the evening for $4,100. JX Primus Enzo Chanel 24267 {4}-ET was consigned by Jerseyland Sires, Turlock, Calif. A January 2019 calf, “Chanel 24267” has a GJPI of +176 and presents a GUI of +25.0. She’s a daughter of JX Clover Patch Avon Enzo {3}, GJPI + 156, and her dam is a Lemonhead daughter of Goff Pharoah Circus Act-ET, Excellent-90%.
The consignment of Bohnert Jerseys, East Moline, Ill., took the third high selling spot of the night. JX Bohnerts Got Maid Selena {6} sold for $4,000. Bryson Josi, Tillamook, Ore., placed the final bid on this September 2018 heifer. She’s a daughter of JX Sunset Canyon Got Maid {5}-ET, GJPI +206, and her dam is a River Valley CDixie Detour daughter who’s projected to make over 1,100 lbs. of combined fat and protein.
