2019 All American Jersey Sale
The 2019 All American Jersey Sale was one for the books. The West Hall at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. was filled with prospective buyers enjoying the company of fellow Jersey enthusiasts while consuming quality cheeses, milk and wines. The animals in the sale offered pedigrees to interest every breeder with genomics, type or production in mind.
The night averaged $6,100 on 64 lots. It was managed by Jersey Marketing Service and Chris Hill was the night’s auctioneer. It was the newly formed Double Dutch Syndicate of Tulare, Calif. and Peak Genetics, Watertown, Wis., who each placed the final bids on the co-high selling females of the night each for $37,000.
Double Dutch Syndicate, the newly formed partnership of Kash-In and Jer-Z-Boyz Ranch, purchased Legendairy Viceroy Best Wishes, a September 2018 heifer from Tom and Jennie Seals, Beaver, Ore., who has a GJPI of +201. “Best Wishes” is a daughter of CDF Viceroy-ET, GJPI +185, and ranks 21st for overall GJPI. MFW Dashiell Fortuna {6}-ET was the purchase of Peak Genetics for a price of $37,000. Consigned by Andrew Mason, Chestertown, Md., “Fortuna” has a GJPI of +203, making her the 27th high individual for GJPI in the Jersey breed as of the November 2019 evaluations. She’s a JX Avi-Lanche Viceroy Dashiell {6}-ET, GJPI +196, and her dam is a JX Co-Op Ad World Cup {4}-ET, GJPI +196. (Pictured right.)
David Hogan, Tillamook, Ore., placed the final bids on second and third high selling individuals of the night. JX Bohnerts Disco Bleep {5}, GJPI +187, consigned by Bohnert Jerseys, East Moline, Ill., commanded a price of $12,500. The April 2019 calf is a daughter of Oaklane Dazzler Disco 2127-ET, GJPI +174, and has an impressive GJUI of +31.
Liberty, Pennsylvania’s Zachary Alexander’s consignment, Rog-Al Chrome Shelby, sold for a price of $12,000, also to Mr. Hogan. A daughter of River Valley Cece Chrome-ET, GJPI +191, “Shelby” has a +189 GJPI. Her dam is a Very Good-85% Ahlem Headline Pharoah 21795, GJPI +132.
Townside Norman Kookie sold for $11,500 to RK Genetics of New Glarus, Wis. The winter yearling captured honors as Junior Champion of the International Junior Jersey Show in October and then Junior All American laurels the day prior to the sale for Noah Blitz of Dorchester, Wis., who consigned her in partnership with Greg Cornish. “Kookie” is sired by Townside Fever Norman-ET and out of an Excellent-93% daughter of Arethusa Socrates Volcano-ET.
In addition to the females that sold in the event, this year Ahlem Farms Partnership and Select Sires Inc. worked with Jersey Marketing Service to syndicate a bull, Ahlem Kiawa Encore 24617-ET, GJPI +198. He was bred by Camille Herrera, Hilmar, Calif., who originally purchased his grandam, Sunwest Nitro Kilowatt V1837, in the 2016 Pot O’Gold Sale. Fifty shares were sold prior to the All American for an amount totaling $75,000.
