Eagle Wins Jersey Production Awards
JX Jer Bel HoleinOne Eagle {6}-ET has been named winner of both the Hilmar Cheese Yield Trophy and the President’s Trophy for 2025. Bred and owned by the Howard King Family of Fremont, Ohio, she produced a record with a cheese yield equivalent of 4,711 lbs. to earn the Hilmar Cheese Yield Trophy. The record has a mature equivalent of 1,535 lbs. protein, which garnered the President’s Trophy.
The Very Good-84% daughter of Victory S-S-I Miami HoleinOne-ET is out of the “A” cow family developed by the King Family at Jer Bel Farm.
“Eagle {6} produced an actual 305-day record of 31,390 lbs. milk, 1,452 lbs. fat (4.6%) and 1,694 lbs. protein (5.4%) at 3-5. With the record, she is the new National Class Leader for protein production among junior three-year-olds. She ranks second for cheese yield among her peers. The protein record is the third highest in breed history overall.
“Eagle {6}” kicked off the record with her second calf — a heifer by “Thrasher {6} — in late February 2025. She gave 124 lbs. of milk for the tester, 30 days fresh, and peaked at 139 lbs. on her April test. She was still giving 89 lbs. milk at 308 days fresh and gave 47 lbs. milk on her recent test in May.
In her first lactation at 2-1, she gave 22,000 lbs. milk, 864 lbs. fat and 758 lbs. milk in 305 days.
She is out of a Very Good-82% daughter of JX Faria Brothers Maldini {4}-ET. The next six dams are Excellent — four of them Excellent-92% or Excellent-93%. Her grandam, JX Jer Bel Bancroft Adeline {6}, Excellent-93%, is still in the herd at nine years of age. Her fifth dam, JX Jer Bel Dale Abby {3}, Excellent-93%, has nine lactations, eight of them over 20,000 lbs. milk. Several bulls from the family have been sent to A.I., including JX Jer Bel Maldini Archie {5}-ET, out of “Adeline {6}.}
The Kings milk about 150 Registered Jerseys with a pair of Lely robots. The herd is enrolled on REAP and has an actual herd average of 19,451 lbs. milk, 863 lbs. fat and 704 lbs. protein, which ranks fifth for milk nationally among herds with 80-149 cows for 2025. The milking herd has an average Jersey Performance Index of +66 and an average final score of 83%.
The family also raises Belgians, the “Bel” in the farm name and prefix.
The Hilmar Cheese Yield Trophy is presented annually by the American Jersey Cattle Association to the cow that produces the highest actual cheese yield record. The President’s Trophy is given to the cow that produces the highest protein record on a mature equivalent basis.
